We spent the night here as this is where we caught the ferry. It seemed a smaller town than Nelson. Locals state that its a lovely place to stay but in reality you can't help but think the only reason people are here is because they are either departing or arriving in the South Island.
The drive from Nelson to Picton (Queen Charlotte Scenic Route) was supposedly one of the nicest and toughest roads to drive in New Zealand. The road was ridiculously windy but it did offer some great views along the road which took my mind off the car sickness and near death experiences of Colins outrageous driving!
